Melanie was born and raised in South Africa and currently lives in Johannesburg with her two cats, a rottweiler puppy and a husband.
Her career path has been diverse: she’s worked in administration and tax, became a paramedic, and now runs several businesses with her husband while pursuing her passion for writing. To say she keeps herself busy is an understatement.
She grew up reading fantasy and devoured books en masse from a young age. In first grade, her “build a caterpillar” chart—where students added a segment for each book read—was always the longest. By the time she was 13, she was losing herself in high fantasy books written by David Gemmell and David Eddings, captivated by their heroic adventures with gritty, action-packed storytelling. These works sparked her imagination and laid the foundation for her own writing journey.
Melanie’s current project is a new adult novel featuring a magical jeweller in a world where every person has a soul bond with an animal—from common creatures to elite beasts and even legendary mythical beings.
